I have researched for decades on the English roots of Thomas Dewey The Settler (TDTS), born 1606; he was one of the early settlers of Windsor CT USA in 1640. I have found records showing that TDTS was born in 1606 at Hinton Martell, Dorset, his father was Thomas (died 1636), his mother was Mary Moore (born 1586, died 1637), his maternal grandfather was Thomas Moore (died 1645) and his uncle was John Moore (born 1607, died 1677). I have DNA evidence that strongly suggests that I am descended from Thomas Dewey and Mary Moore (via TDTS’s brother John Dewy b1607) which means I have Moore genes as well as Dewey genes. This DNA evidence consists of numerous DNA matches with individuals in the USA who show on their trees a link back to a Moore or a Dewey of Windsor CT.

Hi Terry,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
