Biography

Milton was born in 1818. He was the son of Chester Dewey and Phebe Wetmore. He passed away in 1897.

Milton Dewey was born in Turin, Lewis County, New York to Chester and Phebe (Wetmore) Dewey on 23 March 1818. He lived his early years in Turin on the family farm. He married Pamelia Riggs and they had 9 children together. Later he moved to Martinsburgh where he worked as a shoemaker and a harness maker. While there, he was the superintendent of the Sunday School. In 1864 Milton moved his family to a farm near Binghamton, New York. While there, he served as Justice of the peace. In 1870 he left the farm and moved to the City of Binghamton where he lived until 1882. In 1882 he moved to Jersey City, NJ until his wife Pamelia died in 1888.

In the 1860 census Milton (age 42) was in Martinsburgh, Lewis, New York, United States.^[1]
