Biography
Stephen Dewey is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A032420.
Captain Stephen Dewey served with Civil Service, Massachusetts during the American Revolution.
Stephen Dewey was born in 1719. He was the son of James Dewey and Elizabeth Ashley.
Stephen farmed near Sheffield, Massachusetts. He served under a Captain John Ashley (1756), and was active in the community. Stephen married Joanna Taylor. She was the daughter of Samuel and Joanna Kellogg Taylor, born October 9, 1723 at Hadley Mass; died May 12, 1782.[1]
Stephen Dewey Sr. was town clerk in 1777. [2]
He passed away in 1796.[3]
