Biography

Gilbert Deaver is presumed to be the son of Richard Deaver and his wife Grace due to the similarity of the surname and living in the same area. No birth record or immigration record for him has been found.

Gilbert is mentioned by name in the will of Elizabeth Peacock signed on 24 JUL 1700 as follows: I do ordain and appoint my well beloved son-in-law Gilbert Deaver my sole executor of this my last will and testament." Gilbert must have been married to Elizabeth Peacock's daughter as she names the following children to share in her estate: "my five children that is to say Elizabeth Deaver, George Freeman, Thomas Freeman, Ann Freeman and Francis Peacock."[1]

Marriage & Family

Gilbert was married to Elizabeth Freeman. They were the parents more than five children with only Richard named in his will.

Death

Gilbert Deavour signed his will on 19 FEB 1719/20. An abstract follows:

  • To wife Elizabeth, extx., entire estate, shd. she die before testator, he appoints son Richard ex. and desires that two of his four first sons shd. take charge of his youngest son and dau., all unnamed. Test: George Logan, Thomas Morgan, William Biddle. Probated 7 MAY 1720 [2]

His son Gilbert named a son, Gilbert, as did every Gilbert in the records through the 1800s.

Dever-87 and Dever-50 appear to represent the same person because: There was an earlier Gilbert Dever, son made and it needs to have the father and not the mother listed as well as the Gilbert son's named Gilbert who need to be merged. thank you

Dever-87 and Deaver-36 appear to represent the same person because: same mother, same children, same death
