Volkert was born in 1692 in Bushwyck (now Manhatten). He passed away in 1755. or 1740 Per Laila Thompson.
Flatbush marriage record Nov. 16 1716 for Folkert Dirk and Dina V Leuen (HSYB p. 98). This is where the Volkertszens took the name of Fulkerson.
Folkert Dirikson purchased 300 acres in Middlesex County, New Jersey on 21 April 1719.[1] Volkert Dirikson sold this land to Dirrick Folkerson of Somerset County, New Jersey on 17 May 1736.[2]
Lord Granville, one of the original proprietors of North Carolina, in order to keep from being euchered out of his share of the profits, started selling land. This may have been the magnet that drew the Fulkerson family to the south. Also taxes were getting out of hand.

Volkert and some of his children left for North Carolina, (Tennessee) and Virginia. Volkert was killed by the Indians on the trip to the south. The family kept going. Peter was burned at the stake by the Indians in Chillicother, Ohio, as the story is told by Benjamin Shar. Richard was also killed by the Indians after they arrived in North Caroline (Tennessee) in Rowan County.
Beginning on the east side of Millstone River at the upper corner of David Lee's land, then east southeast 130.5 chains, then south by west 23 chains, then west northwest to Millstone River, then down the river to the beginning. Bounded on the north by land of David Lee, on the south and east by land of John Harrison, and on the west by Millstone River, containing 300 acres.
