Elinor Wynne Delpratt was born on 14th May 1915 in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. She was the daughter of Claude Delpratt and Kate Townson. [1]
She became a nurse.
Elinor was commissioned as a Nurse (Lieutenant) in the Australian Army Nursing Service on 12th January 1942, whilst the battle for Malaya and Singapore was looking ominous. She was allocated to the 112th Australian General Hospital, Greenslopes, Queensland (later known as the Repatriation General Hospital and now Ramsay Health Centre). She was demobilised on 22nd October 1946. [2] She was awarded the Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.
