Biography
Paul Stewart Persse Delpratt was born on 26th May 1920 in Queensland, Australia. He was the second son of Cecil Delpratt and Jessie Persse. [1]

On 2nd August 1940 Paul enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force for service overseas during the Second World War. He was allocated to the 2/15th Australian Infantry Battalion, attaining the junior non-commissioned rank of Corporal. He was discharged on 24th October 1944. [2] The 2/15th Battalion saw action in North Africa in 1941-42 as part of the 20th Brigade, 7th Division, before being reassigned to the 9th Division – including garrisoning the strategic port of Tobruk and in the Battles of El Alamein. In early 1943, the entire 9th Division returned to Australia and was re-organised and re-trained for jungle warfare; the 2/15th taking part in campaigns against the Japanese in New Guinea in 1943-44. [3] For his service, Paul was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-1945 and Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.
He passed away, aged 69 years, on 26th June 1989 in Queensland. [4]
