Biography

Birth

Paul Dellinger's birth date of 5 November 1670 is calculated from his age at death. His birth place is undocumented and assumed to be Oberacker.

Marriage

Married about January 1693. There is a gap in the Oberacker Church records in the 1690s; therefore, the marriage of Paul Dellinger to Clara Anna Unknown is not on record in Oberacker.

Occupation

The St. Andrew Evangelish Kirche book records Paul as a "Burger und Todten-Graber" [citizen and grave digger].[1]

Ortssippenbuch Oberacker

David W. Dellinger's 2002 translation of information in the Ortssippenbuch Oberacker.[2]

"Paul Dellinger was a farmer and operated a full size farm either as an owner or as a tenant, in Neuenburg."
[Correction by Kathy Gunter Sullivan: Paul Dellinger did not live or work in Neuenburg. The statement about Neuenburg is an error by the compilers of the Ortssippenbuch Oberacker, Landkreis Bruchsal in Baden. They misread an entry in the Ortssippenbuch Oberöwishein-Neuenbürg—specifically the entry for family no. 3480 (Johann Michael Zahninger). The entry states that Michael Zahninger married 1725 in Oberacker to Anna Barbara Dellinger, daughter of Paul Dellinger of Oberacker.][3]
"According to the Ortssippenbuch Oberacker, in 1697 there were 49 inhabitants of Oberacker, 12 married couples, 24 children and 1 single person. That group consisted of: Mayor Keller, the juryman Melchior Schaufele, widower Bartholomaus Paquet, Hans Jakob Velte and his woman, citizen Paul Dellinger, Jakob Mayer, Johann Adam Schaufele, Johann Jakob Weber, Hans Dellinger [Hans Andreas Dellinger, known as Hans Jr.], Martin Baldauf, Wilhelm Baldauf, Jerg Silcher and his mute sister-in-law, David Knab with his wife and five children, The married persons Michael Knab, Jakob Becker, a widow with one child, Thomas Knoll, a widow with two daughters, Thomas Weber, a widow with one little daughter and two orphans of her daughter, Lorenz Baldauf and Theodore Moschis' daughter.
Comment by Kathy Gunter Sullivan, 27 August 2014: The information on Oberacker inhabitants in the Ortssippenbuch Oberacker differs in some respects from the original information in the Oberacker Church Book.[4]

Death

Paul was buried 1 July 1746 (aged 76 years less 4 months and 4 days) at Oberacker. He died on his name's day, Peter and Paul day.[5] When Paul died, Oberacker was in the Dertingen District, Duchy of Württemberg, Holy Roman Empire [in German: Bezirk Dertingen, Herzogtum Württemberg, Heiliges Römisches Reich]. Oberacker now is part of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Gudron,

The following repetition, speculation, and incorrect information is not useful and it has been deleted.

Translation: Hans Paul Dellinger’s birthday was not found at the moment. It is possible that not all data have been photographed for the microfilm. Thus, the parents are not to be called with certainty. In Oberacker they do not belong to the Alt residents, as they are listed. From 1659 the first entry of Hans Endreß Dellinger can be found, as well as his descendants. In the later births of Hans Paul’s children, the other Dellingers are never named as godparents. Either you were at odds or you were just a family.

His first wife died, his second wife was Clara Anna Seitz, and his wife was Clara Anna Seitz. [incorrect]

The origin after the 30 years war is assumed to be Switzerland (DNA results to other Swiss who came to BaWü from 1655. Surname could originally be Dollinger.

Gudron,

The following information added by you to Paul's biography is incorrect and I have deleted it. There is nothing known to connect him to Switzerland. The biography explains that he never worked or lived at Neuenburg. There is no evidence for his wife's maiden name. It is necessary to provide valid sources for events. Please be very careful not to add speculation or undocumented material to WikiTree.

Translation The origin of the Dellinger is probably from Switzerland. In fact, he moved from Neuenbürg, Kraichtal, to Oberacker, Kraichtal - a neighbouring town. The place of birth is unknown (there are many false mentions for its origin and ancestors.) In Oberacker he was first mentioned as a farmer and citizen, which was already a certain position, later he was also active as a gravedigger. He marries CA Seitz and is said to have had 7 children according to the local family book. After the end of the war in 1648, Neuenbürg had only 15 inhabitants, Oberacker 1656 by migration 64 inhabitants. Religion has been evangelical.

2005 hatte Oberacker 685 Einwohner.

Kraichtal did not exist during Paul's lifetime. In 1952 the State of Baden-Württemberg was created. In 1971 Oberacker and eight other municipalities were combined to create the city of Kraichtal. The municipalities still have their identities within the city; Kraichtal map. The present-day geographic address of Oberacker is Oberacker, city of Kraichtal, Karlsruhe district, Kraichgau region (Kraich Valley), State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany; Kraichtal history.
