Biography
Charles Gentry Dees was born on 03 May 1882 in North Carolina, United States. He was the son of Eli Malachi Dees Sr (1851 - 1929) and Catherine Ann (Ratley) Dees ( - 1908).[1][2]
He was enumerated as "Jantry" Dees, age 17, living in his parents' household in Rockfish Township, Cumberland County, North Carolina on the 1900 United States Census.[3]
Gentry Dees and Ida Beasley were married on 17 March 1901 in Hope Mills, Cumberland County, North Carolina.[4] They were the parents of at least 13 children.
Gentry and Ida were living in Rockfish Township when the 1910 United States Census was taken. Ida had given birth to 5 children. All were living in the household with them. Gentry was working as a farmer.[5]
The Dees family was still living in Rockfish Township when the 1920 United States Census was taken. Gentry and Ida had 8 children living in their household. Gentry was working as a laborer in a cotton mill.[6]
When the 1930 United States Census was taken, Gentry Dees and his family were living in Hope Mills, Cumberland County, North Carolina. Seven children were listed in the household. Gentry was working in a cotton mill.[7]
Charlie Gentry Dees submitted a World War I Draft Registration card to the local board in Cumberland County, North Carolina on 12 September 1918. The birth date recorded exceeded that on all other records by five years. He was a cotton mill operator for Necronsett Mills. He named his wife, Ida Dees, as his next of kin.[8]
Gentry Dees died on 04 January 1937 in Hope Mills, Cumberland County, North Carolina at the age of 54. He was buried in Adcock Cemetery, Hope Mills, Cumberland County, North Carolina.[1][9]
