Biography

Dirk Wybrand and Zara Deen had their child Wiljem Wybrand baptized at the Reformed Dutch Church of Poughkeepsie on 27 May 1739. No witnesses were recorded.^[1]

Their daughter Susanna was baptized at Walpeck, New York, on 19 October 1743, recorded as the child of Dirck Wybrand and Sara Deen. Witnesses were John Ree and his wife Susanna Thom.^{[2] [3]}

Dirck Weybrand and Sara Deen had their child Lisabeth baptized at Smithfield, Pennsylvania, on 1 September 1745, with witnesses Hendrick Hoever and Neeltje Rosa. The records for Lisabeth and the other child baptized that same day indicate "(Illegitimate)," which is an unusual entry for children who were recorded with both parents, particularly when the couple had baptized previous children.^[4]

On 11 December 1748 Sara Deen baptized a son named Samuel at Smithfield, Pennsylvania, with witnesses Benjamin Dupuy and his wife Eyke De Witt. No father is named on the record and the child is indicated as illegitimate.^[5]
