Silas was born in 1840. Silas enlisted in Company C of the 103rd OVI on 14 Aug 1862 as a Private. He was appointed Corporal on 13 Jan 1863 and then Sergeant on 1 Mar 1864. He mustered out with the company on 12 Jun 1865. After the war, Silas is found living in California. He married Jennie Nealy on 12 Dec 1903. Silas was a Farmer by trade. He passed away in 1917.
