Biography

Emilie Frances de Kosenko was born on 27 Jan 1899 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.[1]
She was the daughter of Stephan de Kosenko and Mary White Carstairs. She was baptized on 28 December 1899 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[2] In the 1900 census Emile, Servant, was the single daughter of Stephen De Kosenko in Philadelphia Ward 34, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[3] In the 1910 census Emilie (age 11) was the daughter of Mary C De Koseako in Philadelphia Ward 7, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.[4] Emilie was at school in 1914 at Agnes Irwin School, Rosemont, Pennsylvania.[5] In the 1920 census Emily (age 20) was the single stepdaughter (step daughter) of Edward J Brookes in Lower Merion, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.[6] Emilie received a US passport in 1922.[7] Emilie sailed on La Savoie from Le Havre, arriving in New York on 14 October 1923.[8]

Emilie applied for a US passport in 1924..[9]

Emilie's engagement to Captain Charles Spring-Rice was announced in February 1925.[10][11]

She married Charles Spring Rice on 14 April 1925.[12] Their children were:[12]Emilie Frances de Kosenko (married names Spring Rice, then Forbes)...[12]

  • Gerald Spring Rice (1926–2013)
  • Joan Spring Rice (1928–2002)
  • Michael Spring Rice (1935–)

Emilie was registered to vote in 1935 in Old Manor House, Spelthorne, Surrey, England.[13] Emilie was registered to vote in 1937 in Surrey, England.[14] Emilie flew from Shannon, Ireland, to New York, arriving on 22 February 1946.[15]

Charles died in December 1946.[12]

Emilie remarried on 12 November 1954, to Courtenay Fergus Ochoncar Grey Forbes.[12][16]

Emilie died on 7 July 1981 in Henley-on-Thames Oxon.[17][12] Her estate passed probate on 17 September 1981 in London.[18]
