Malmfrid var dotter till storfurst Mstislav I av Kiev och Kristina Ingesdotter.

Gifte sig med Sigurd Jorsafalar, son till Magnus Barfot och blev drottning i Norge. Efter Sigurds död gifte hon sig med Erik Emune och blev drottning i Danmark.

Biography

Malmfrid was born to Grand Prince Mstislav I of Kiev and Princess Christina Ingesdotter of Sweden, paternal granddaughter of Gytha of Wessex and maternal granddaughter of King Inge the Elder of Sweden. She was born between 1095 and 1102.

She married Sigurd Magnusson, King of Norway, son of Magnus III Olavsson, King of Norway, between 1116 and 1128.

Malmfrid and Sigurd had a daughter, Kristin, but had no sons.

She and Sigurd were divorced in 1128.

She married Erik II 'the Memorable' Eriksson, King of Denmark, son of Erik I 'the Evergood' Svendsson and Bothilde Thorgautsdottir, in 1132.

Malmfrid was first a Norwegian queen and later a Danish queen, just like her maternal aunt, Margrete Fredkolla had been.

Very little is said in the Icelandic Sagas about Malmfrid's life in Norway. She is known as the queen of Denmark between 1134 and 1137, when her husband was killed, and is not mentioned thereafter.
