I suggest that this man's LNAB should be de Witt, There aren't a lot of records to go by. It's not certain whether he was born in the Netherlands around 1650 or in New Netherland around 1655, but in either case there's no record. Provost has an image (blanked out in the Ancestry.com version of the book) of "one of the many preserved signatures of Pieter Jans Wit" (his father). The names on the administration of his estate include Witt and de Witt.
