Biography

Michael DeVechio Michael J. "Spidge" DeVechio, 83 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday morning, July 6, 2000 in St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. DeVechio was born in Camden, NJ on April 13, 1917 to the late John and Angelina (Citerone) DeVechio. He was an electrician for the Pennsylvania Railroad, now Amtrak, for 30 years, retiring in 1976. A former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Club, he enjoyed golfing at Wilmington Country Club where he was also a caddy for many years. He also enjoyed watching the horse races at Delaware Park and was an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, taking pride in his vast collection of albums.

In addition to his parents, Mr. DeVechio was predeceased by his brother, Joseph; and his sisters, Rose Agostini and Louise Tarin. He is survived by his brother, John A. DeVechio of Middletown; his sisters, Lucy DiEmedio and Adeline DeVechio, both of Wilm., and Mary Campbell of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted friends, Larry, Corky and Ahmed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 9th & DuPont Sts. on Monday morning, July 10 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. (opp. Cathedral Cem., 658-9095) on Sunday evening, July 9 from 6-8 pm.
