Leona Louise Gangestad, 78, resident of Ft. Ripley, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Leona was born on February 25, 1932 in Brainerd to Leon and Emma (Kobe) DeRosier. She married Kenneth Gangestad on June 21, 1950.
Survivors include her children, Alisa (Bob) Rakow, Brenda (Robert) Peterson, Cynthia (Brian) Bachman, Dudley (Kathy) Gangestad, Emma (Mike) Rademacher, Felix Gangestad, Gregory (Joni) Gangestad, Holly (Terry) Wendland, Ilene (Gaylin) Smith, Julie (Jeff) Hardy and Kendra (Brian) Roberts; 27-grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 2004, brothers, Philip, Paul, George, and James DeRosier; daughter-in-law, Tammy Gangestad.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in St. Mathias Township with Father Tony Wroblewski officiating. Burial will be in St. Mathias Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Monday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with prayers at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue the hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
