William was born in 1871. He is the son of Job Dawley and [[Tifft-147|

William S Dawley married Lilian Beatrice Lapham 15 Oct 1893 in Brooklyn NY.[2]

The 1900 US census lists:

William S Dawley Head Male 29 New York Nov 1871 electrician
Lillian B Dawley Wife Female 29 Jun 1871
His father was born in NY, his mother in MA; her father was born in MA, her mother in ME. [3]

The 1910 US census for Brooklyn Ward 26, Kings, New York, lists:

William S Dawley Head M 38 New York
Lillian B Dawley F 37 New York[4]

The 1920 US census for Brooklyn lists:

William Dawley Head M 47 New York
Lillian B Dawley Wife F 45 New York
Lillian E Dawley Daughter F 8 New York [5]


William Segur(sic) Dawley died 30 Nov 1931 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York at the age of 60. He was an electrician. He is shown as married to Lillian B. Dawley and his parents are listed as Job and Julia A. Tift His burial was in Evergreen on 3 Dec 1931.[6]

Research Notes

William's father is in WT as Job Seger Dawley. There is a FindaGrave entry for a William Segar Dawley dob unknown, family unknown who died 3 Dec 1931 and is buried in The Evergreens Cemetery in Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York.

NB There was another William Dawley, born in New York in 1871, son of William & Eunice Dawley. In 1880 they were living in Steuben County[7]
