Charleston Gazette--Feb 15, 1947

George L Davis, 65, engineer for the New York Central Railway Co., for 40 years, died yesterday at his home 1311B Camden Dr., of a heart condition. He was seriously ill only one day. A resident of Charleston all his life, Mr. Davis was a member of Kanawha lodge No. 29, A. F. & A. M., the Scottish Rite bodies, the Shrine, Bream Memorial Presbyterian church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillian Gertrude Davis; seven sons, Doyle D. Frank C., Charles L., Robert M. George C., Hubert E. and Edward H. Davis, all of Charleston; two daughters, Mrs. H. C. Minor, Ripley, Tenn., and one sister, Mrs. Howard Behymer, Covington, Ky. Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Bream Memorial Presbyterian church. Dr. Joe B. Overmyer will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Kanawha lodge No. 29, A. F. & A. M. in charge of the graveside service. The body is at the residence and will be taken to the church an hour before the service. The Bartlett mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
