DOUGALL—DAVIES.—On the 31st ult., at the West Melbourne Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. J. G. Stobbs, M.A., Thomas, eldest son of Mr. James Dougall, West Melbourne, to Pauline, daughter of the late John Davies, Esq., M.H.A., Hobart Town.[2]
1882 A daughter, Vera Boyd born. She dies in the same year.
1884 A daughter, Kate Alice born. She dies in the same year.
Another child was born and died, according to her divorce papers.
6 May 1895 A divorce was granted to Pauline on the grounds of habitual drunkenness and cruelty (3) [3][4]
22 August 1895 Later that year she married James O'Callaghan Grant at the Congregational Church, Geelong: Pauline Dougall age 33 resident of St Kilda, born Hobart, parents John Davies, (newspaper proprietor) and Ellen Duncan; James O'Callaghan Grant, journalist, age 38, parents James Knox Grant (licenced victualler) and Johanna O'Callaghan.[5]
1897 They had a daughter, Doris Victoria My Grant: her birth registered at Albert Park.[6]
19 June 1899 Her husband James died at their residence, 88 Canterbury-
road, Middle Park. He was buried in Melbourne General Cemetery. [7] Pauline Grant was described as 'late traveller for F. and J. Burke Ltd' in his death notice which also mentioned he was the eldest brother of Robert G. Grant, of South Melbourne.[8] James had been a founding member of the Red Cross, according to a report about Doris's 21st birthday in the social pages of a newspaper in 1918.[9]
26 November 1902 Pauline married Edward Michael Mahon.[10]
Marriage notice, The Australasian (Melbourne, Vic.), 22 August 1903:
MAHON—GRANT.—On the 26th November, 1902, .at Melbourne, Edward M. Mahon, son of M. Mahon, Calf Lymph Depot, Royal-park, to Pauline, widow of Jas, O'Callaghan Grant.[11]
They had a daughter, Phyllis Adele Mahon in 1903.[12] Phyllis died 1912, age 8.[13]
Her daughter Doris married John Charles King in 1922
MAHON.—On the 12th July, 1927, at a private hospital, St. Kilda, Pauline, late of Shasta, Gurner street, St. Kilda, the beloved mother of Doris (Mrs. J. C. King), Phyllis (deceased), and sister of L. L. Davies.[15]
