Birth

John was born on February 2, 1896 in Rhode Island.

Notes

Jack's parents passed away when he was young and he ended up in an orphanage in 1910. He believed he was named after his father, John William and went by John William for most of his life, though his birth certificate lists him as John James.

Military Service

Jack served in the military as a Mechanic Supp Co 71 Inf. He enlisted on 24 Jul 1918 and was discharged on January 19, 1919.^[9][10]

Marriage

He first married Hazel May Conway, daughter of William Conway and Mabel Roberts, on February 25, 1920 in Attleboro, Massachusetts. ^[11]

Around 1925, he married his wife, Ada Anna Pratt.

After Ada passed away from tuberculosis, his children were taken away from him and put in an orphanage. He remarried quickly to get them out of the orphanage and married Esther Elizabeth "Betty" on May 22, 1941 in Pawtucket, Providence, Rhode Island.^[12]

Death

Jack passed away on September 8, 1957 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. ^[13][14] He is buried at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst, Illinois. ^[15][16]
