WILLIAM JAMES DAUNT.
There died at his residence Boomaland, Mill Creek, Stroud, on November 2nd, William James Daunt aged 69. He was the second son of the late Thomas Daunt and was born in the locality where he passed away. He married Jessie, daughter of the late Thomas Bowden, Mill Creek. His widow, six sons and four daughters remain to mourn their loss.
In the early days, when quite a young man, he took up contracting, such as roads and bridges, and was very successful. Afterwards he took up grazing and dairying pursuits.
Of a cheerful and kindly disposition he was well liked amongst his fellow men. The last few years he was in indifferent health and went under several operations to get relief, but at last, the Reaper called and claimed His own.
He was laid to rest in the Church of England cemetery the Rev. C. Stretch and the Rev W. Marshall officiating at the graveside. The funeral was one of the largest that passed through Stroud, friends coming from distant places to pay their last tribute of respect to deceased.
To the widow and family our sympathy is extended in their bereavement.
