He served a short term as jailer at the county jail in Newton County, Missouri, USA.[7]

(Bud) Daugherty, 70 years old, retired farmer who had lived in this community 50 years, died at noon today at his home, 111 1/2 West Spring street. About a year ago he served a short term as jailer at the county jail. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Daugherty, at home, and two sons, Homer Daugherty of Houston, Tex., and Herschel Daugherty, 1427 West Ninth street, Joplin. Services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Thompson funeral home with the Rev. R. A. Hutson, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Green cemetery.", Joplin Globe, Joplin, Missouri.
