Biography

John Franklin Dart was born 17 Jan 1875 in Goderich, Huron, Ontario, Canada. ^[1] In 1881, John and his parents lived in Tuckersmith, Huron, Ontario. ^[2] By 1891 they were in Winnipeg, Manitoba. ^[3]

John Franklin Dart and Anna were married 9 May 1898 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. ^[4] They lived in Winnipeg where he was a brakes man from 1898 to 1901 and a conductor for the rest of his career. ^{[5] [6]} The 1911 census shows Anna and John, daughter Bethie and Rossie Pagel, sister-in-law living at 314 Flora, Winnipeg. ^[7] John resided in Winnipeg in 1906 and 1926. ^{[8] [9] [10]} They continued to live in Winnipeg. ^[11] Anna died in June 1931. ^[12]

John married Mary Agnes Hacking 9 Sep 1933 in West Kildonan, Manitoba.^[13] On 30 Jan 1940, he reached the CPR's age limit for service, and was looking forward to spending the summer at his daughter's home on McKenzie Island. ^[14] John died in January 1954 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Winnipeg. ^[15]

Child: Beth Elizabeth Dart was born in Aug 1910, married W.G. Ballantine.
