Hi Jennifer,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi, Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, here are a few more features you may find useful

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you will run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Sandy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Collaboration means one profile for every individual. The first point of our Honor Code reads: "We collaborate. When we share ancestors we work together on the same ancestor profiles." To grow one shared tree we need to share the same profiles. Every person who ever lived should have one and only one profile on WikiTree. If a duplicate profile has been created unintentionally we merge them.

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

Hello.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Let me know.

I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders.

What a beautiful gesture!! Welcome! You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add profiles to WikiTree. Also please add sources to each of your new profiles.Even if you're just a casual family historian recording family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from.

If you need any help getting started, check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum. You might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Hi,

I was a history major in college. I don't work any longer and I;m on SSI Disability so I have lots of time on my hands. I like to do research like this because it distracts me from my pain. I would love to help other people with their family trees. I've been working on my family tree and I have a direct descendant that goes back17 generations to the year 1330. I am doing this as a family project and when I'm done I will give a copy to all of my cousins and family. I am also starting a family tree for my Fiance as soon as he has his DNA test done. He is adopted and does not know anyone in his family. I think this is a wonderful project and I would really love the opportunity to help others find where they came from. I hope they enjoy learning about their heritage. Thank you, Jennifer
