1324: About 35 Irish gentlemen, landowners, archbishops and bishops, most notably Thomas FitzJohn, 2nd Earl of Kildare, were summoned to the war in Aquitaine by John Darcy, Justiciar of Ireland, and Nicholas Fastolf, Chief Justice.[3]
1346: Sir John Darcy's daughter Elizabeth married James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormond.

John Darcy, Knt., married (1st) Emmeline Heron, daughter and heiress of Walter Heron, by Alice, daughter of Nicholas de Hastings. They had three sons John, Knt. [2nd Lord Darcy of Knaith], Aymer, and Roger. He married (2nd) at Maynooth, co. Kildare 3 July 1329 Joan De Burgh, widow of Thomas FitzJohn, 2nd Earl of Kildare, Justiciar of Ireland (died 5 April 1328), and daughter of Richard de Burgh, Knt., 3rd Earl of Ulster, lord of Connacht, Lieutenant of Ireland, 1299-1300, by his wife, Margaret. They had one son, William, and one daughter, Elizabeth. Sir John Darcy, 1st Lord Darcy of Knaith, died 30 May 1347. His widow, Joan, died 23 April 1359.
