Martha, b.

John Daman died in 1677.

The order of the Court for the settlement of the estate of Serjeant John Damon was recorded at Plymouth, although not dated it is recorded in 1677. His widow was to receive her share, ten of the children to receive 20 pounds, then Daniel (eldest son) to receive a double portion, and the two eldest sons, Daniel and Zachary had their choice in their rights of the lands and housing.[10]

His widow Martha executrix. In the division of his estate John, Experience and Ichabod are named, and also Ebenezer, "a weake childe," (whose land was ordered to be improved by Peter and Martha, his mother and father-in-law), also Silence, Martha, Hannah and Margaret— also Daniel. These were living 1679. Martha, the widow, had married Peter Bacon of Taunton: We notice also in the Town records of 1680, that "they instructed their deputies to move the Court for a rehearing touching the land of Ebenezer Daman being ordered to be improved by Peter Bacon, lest the child be outed of his inheritance." The Court, however, did not order a rehearing."[11]

Sargeant John Damon's inventory was taken on 23 October 1676. Martha gave oath to the truth of the inventory on 30 October 1676 at Plymouth Court.[12]

Were they Quakers? Did some leave MA and head to N Carolina. I have this note under George Sutton Sutton-80(I see we have this noted on Sutton's profile but without a source)...mentioning a John Damon:

About 1668, after Plymouth Colony enacted penal laws against the Quakers, George Sutton migrated to North Carolina with most of his family to escape religious persecution. He had lands laid out on 1st Herring Brook. His house was near John Daman's at the SW end of Greenfield Lane where it unites with the Driftway.
