Biography

John Dalrymple KCVO MBE is a member of Clan Dalrymple.

John Aymer Dalrymple, 13th Earl of Stair was born on 9 October 1906. He was the son of John James Dalrymple, 12th Earl of Stair and Violet Evelyn Harford. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He held the office of the Justice of Peace for Wigtownshire, in 1936. He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Stair on the 4 November, 1961.

He married Davina Katherine Bowes-Lyon, daughter of Hon. Sir David Bowes-Lyon and Rachel Pauline Spender Clay, on 14 January 1960. The couple had 3 children.

He was appointed as Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (KCVO), in 1978. He also competed in the four-man bobsleigh event at the 1928 Winter Olympics. John Aymer Dalrymple died in 1996, around the Stranraer area of Scotland, United Kingdom. He was 89 years of age.
