Iris Jean was born in 1928. She was the daughter of William Dalley and Mary Elizabeth Cleland. She passed away in 1931 age 3 ^[1]

ASHBURTON. GIRL'S FATAL BURNS. An inquest concerning the death of Iris Jean Dalley, aged three years., who died as the result of burns received when she sank up to her waist in hot ashes in a shingle pit at the Ashburton Domain, was opened before the District Coroner (Mr E. Clark) at the Hospital yesterday morning. After evidence of identification was given the inquest wag adjourned sine die. Dorothea Mary Dalley, aged 14 years, who rushed into the bed of ashes to rescue her younger sister, was badly burnt about the lower limbs and has been admitted to the Public Hospital. Last evening her condition was reported to be satisfactory.^[2]
