His death was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald on 7th July 1931[1]. "...He took no active part in the affairs of the firm no in commercial pursuits but was known throughout the dominion as a sportsman and the owner of a number of horses that distinguished themselves on the turf notably Warstet and Stepdancer.... Mr Dalgety's wife who predeceased him, was a Miss Burnett and was a member of a well known New Zealand family. Her sister is Lady Statham wife of the Speaker of the Dominion House of Representatives."
