Biographie

Identified as the Adrien d'Abacourt, m. Simone d'Orgeville, father of Marie d'Abancourt Lacaille.

Falsely attributed daughter

Adrien d'Abancourt dit Lacaille is not related to Perrette Lacaille

The birth location is taken from his engagement contract of 1632 to go to Canada to work for Champlain. He is one of the 6 ex-military sent to assist Champlain. The contract says: Adrien d'Abancourt dit Lacaille from Saint-Paul at Beauvais. Note that in those days, today's village of St-Paul was considered part of Beauvais because it depended administratively as well as religiously from the Bishopric of Beauvais, like about a dozen others. It was not independant and thus the expression "at Beauvais" in 1632, while today it is not at Beauvais should not surprise. Religiously, a good part of Picardy and the lower region of Normandy were part of the Beauvais bishopric.

D'Abancourt-7 and D'Abancourt-4 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, same basic info

D'Abancourt Lacaille-2 and D'Abancourt-4 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate, please merge into d'Abancourt. Thank you. No other info available (checked).
D'Abancourt Lacaille-1 and D'Abancourt-4 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. The Soissons parish registers have been destroyed, but the early registers for Saint-Paul (1592-1620) show the presence of at least two D'Abancourt families (spelled either D'Abancourt or Dabancourt).
D'Abancourt Lacaille-1 and D'Abancourt-4 are not ready to be merged because: I had accepted the merge but now want to delay it until I have a look at the Saint Paul registers in case the family is mentioned there and we need to reevaluate the lnab. I'm sorry, the only way to do this is to go back to an unmerged match
There was no Saint-Paul parish in Beauvais, but there is a village by this name nearby (see https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Paul_(Oise)).

Actually, Abancourt is the name of another village is present-say Oise (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abancourt_(Oise)).

D'Abancourt Lacaille-1 and D'Abancourt-4 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. Adrien d'Abancourt was a real person, and was the maternal grandfather of Louis Jolliet. The previous connection to Perrette Lacaille was incorrect. LNAB should be d'Abancourt, Lacaille was his daughter's dit name.

The RootsWeb link no longer works. I am curious where one would find this information on the Seine-Maritime archives website. The inscription maritime for Rouen is said to begin in 1764, long after the supposed engagement contract.

The registry exists and is to be found at the Archives Départementales de l'Oise.
