Princess. Maria Angela Caterina d'Este was born on 1 March 1656, died on 16 July 1722. She was born a Princess of the Dutchy of Modena, and later became the Princess of Carignano by marriage to Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, Prince of Carignano.
Maria Angela Caterina was the daughter of General Borso d'Este and his wife Ippolita d'Este, who were uncle and niece to one another. General Borso d'Este was a son of Cesare d'Este, Duke of Modena, whislt Ippolita d'Este was a daughter of Luigi d'Este, younger son of Cesare.
Maria Angela Caterina and Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia were married in a ceremony that took place at the Castle of Racconigi on 10 Nov 1684, the bride being 28 years old and the bridegroom 56.
Prince Emanuele Filiberto died in 1709, leaving his consort Maria Angela Caterina dowager princess of Carignano. Their only surviving son Vittorio Amadeo succeeded as Prince of Carignano. Maria Angela Caterina d'Este di Savoia-Carignano died on 16 Jul 1722 at 66 years of age.
