Biography

Jane Cutler may have been a sister of Edmud and John Cutler who came to Pennsylvania from Bolland, Yorkshire, England. The Cutler brothers came with a certificate of removal from Settle Monthly Meeting dated 4th month 3rd day (June 3), 1685.[1]

She married John Naylor of Neskamina at the home of James Dilworth 5th month 11th day, 1685.[1] Jane died in 1728 and was buried 12th month 11th day, 1727/8 (February 11, 1728).[1]

Children of John & Jane (Cutler) Naylor

The births of four children were recorded by the Middletown Monthly Meeting:

  1. daughter, first name not given in Middletown MM records. (Possibly Mary Naylor who married Joseph Tomlinson December 22, 1708)[1]
  2. John Naylor, born 10th month 16th day 1692; married Mary Lane[1]
  3. Jane Naylor, born 10th month 16th day 1694, married (1) Eleazer Twining 10th month 26th day 1716 (no children); married (2) Benjamin Scott of Southampton 2nd day of 4th month 1725[1]
  4. Susannah Naylor, born 7th month 28th day 1699; died September 27th, 1699 and was the sixth person buried at Middletown.[1]

John Naylor had two additional daughters whose birth's were not recorded. These are presumed to have been daughters he had with Jane Cutler, although some have suggested they may have been John's from a previous wife[1]. These daughters were:

  1. Sarah Naylor; married (1) Thomas Searle, certificate granted to Thomas by Abington Monthly Meeting 7th month 26th day; married (2) Ralph Dunn; married (3) Thomas Evans.[1][2]
  2. _____ Naylor; married Arthur Searle
