Biography

Joseph L Cutbirth, was born 19 Oct 1845 Williamsburg, Whitley County, Kentucky. He married Sarah May Farris in 1871. They moved "out west". They traveled by train, from Kentucky to St. Louis, Missouri. They traveled by covered wagon for the last part of trip to Silver Lake, Kansas. Other Farris families also moved there. Sarah and Joseph had seven children. The first two children were twins, Lida and Lula. They were born in Kentucky. Sarah and Joseph were the founders of the Loyal Chapter No. 176, Order of Eastern Star, in Silver Lake. She served as first Worthy Matron of the chapter. Sarah and Joseph are buried at the Silver Lake Cemetery.
