Biography
Mary Louise Curtis was born on 6 August 1876 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States, daughter of Cyrus Herman Kotzschmar Curtis (1850–1933) and Louisa Knapp (1851–1910). Her parents were founders of the Ladies' Home Journal magazine which her future husband built his career around.
Mary married Eduard Willem Gerard Cesar Hidde Bok on 22 October 1896. They were the parents of Curtis and Carey.
She was a philanthropist and patron of music and was a founder of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia."
She remarried to Efrem Zimbalist.
She died at the age of 93 on January 4, 1970 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was buried Town Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, Litchfield, Connecticut.[1]
