Biography

Amelia Roxana Curtis was born 21 July 1852^[1] in Berthier, Canada, as was her brother Albert J Curtis.^[2] She was the daughter of Gates Curtis and Roxana Clements.

Amelia married Edson Louis Lawson, 8 Jul 1876. ^[3][4]

Mrs. Amelia Roxana Lawson died at her home on Elizabeth Street early Wednesday morning (i.e. 21 Nov, 1923), after a brief illness. She was a native of Ogdensburg and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gates Curtis and a niece of the late General Curtis. Mrs. Lawson was a woman of most estimable Christian character and a life-long member of St. John’s Church. She had many friends in the city. She is survived by her daughter, Miss Addie Lawson, her sister, Mrs. Charles Merriman, and her brother, Albert Curtis.^[6]

She is buried in the Ogdensburg Cemetery, Ogdensburg, New York.^[7]
