Ellen was born around 1861 to the farmer Edward Curran (although her marriage registration gives her father's name as Patrick).
Ellen married Daniel Halferty in 1880. The 1911 census notes she and husband Daniel had 16 children, of which 12 survived.
She died in 1930 at the age of 69. She is buried in Balleeghan, Raymoghy, County Donegal with her husband.
