No record of the birth of John Cumber has been found directly linking to the man who died in Maryland in 1677. He was likely born in England around 1620 based on the fact that he was a grandfather when he died. John Cumber settled in Anne Arundel where he was mentioned in a warrant granted to Thomas Pratt 9 APR 1663.
From his will we now that John was married to a woman named Judith at the time of his decease. He was the father of at least two children, a son, who was likely deceased, but was the father of John Cumber Jr. and a daughter, not named, who was the wife of Thomas Pratt.
