1891 'THE Maffra Spectator.', The Maffra Spectator (Vic. : 1882 - 1920), 26 January, p. 3. , viewed 29 Jul 2022, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article66916178 It is with much regret that we have to notice the death of Mr James Cue, at the age of 75 years. This gentleman was nearly the last of one of the oldest families in Ballineen, County Cork, Ireland, and in which place the news of his death will be much lamented by all who hold him in high esteem. His remains were taken from Maffra to be interred in the Walhalla Cemetery, where his wife had been previously buried. Prior to his burial on Thursday 22nd inst., he was taken to the Wallhalla Wesleyan Church, which was draped in black, and part of the burial service read there by Rev. Mr M'Bride, the choir singing appropriate hymns, and the Dead March in Saul played by the organist, as the coffin, which was strewed with crosses and wreaths, some of them from Maffra sympathisers; and others Walhalla, was borne to the hearse, which convoyed it to the cemetery, and followed by all the old residents of Walhalla, who knew and respected the deceased, all the business places being entirely closed while the funeral wended its way to the place of interment. The service at the grave was conducted in a most impressive manner by Rev. Mr M'Bride, pastor of the Walhalla Wesleyan Church, and where the deceased was a worshipper while living in Walhalla. Many expresions of sympathy have been forwarded from Walhalla to his daughter, Mrs James Ryan, who has keenly felt the loss in her bereavement.
