Mary (Cruise) O'Mara has Irish ancestors.
Mary Paulina (Cruise) O'Mara was born about 1843 in New Jersey, United States, daughter of Patrick Russell Cruise (~1803 - 1849) and Theresa (Johnson) Cruise (1805 - 1876).
Mary married Dillon Henry Mapother (1832 - 1874) on 20 September 1858 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan[1][2] She appeared on the census with him in 1860 with their daughter Mary Mapother (abt.1860-bef.1870) in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky..[3] She appeared on the census with him in 1870 with their sons Dillon Edward Mapother (abt.1862-1933), Henry Hart Mapother (1864-1932), and George Brace Mapother (abt.1869-1870) in Louisville.[4]

- Henry Hart Mapother (1864 - 1932)
- George Brace Mapother (~1869 - 1870)
- Wible Lawrence Mapother (1872 - 1926).
After the death of her first husband, Mary married Thomas O'Mara (~1835 - 1905) on 28 February 1876 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky [5] On the 1880 census, Mary appears with her second husband, Thomas O'Mara (abt.1835-1905), their son Thomas Cruise (O'Mara) Mapother (1876-1939), and three of her children from her first marriage: Dillon Edward Mapother (abt.1862-1933), Henry Hart Mapother (1864-1932), and Wible Lawrence Mapother (1872-1926). Dillon's name is unclear and is sometimes transcribed as Delia, and his gender marker contains both an F and an M.[6]
Their son was Judge Thomas Cruise Mapother (1876 - 1939). Thomas went by the surname of Mapother instead of his birth surname O'Mara.
