A.E. Cross was a Canadian politician, rancher and businessman. He was one of the founders of the Calgary Stampede in 1912, when George Weadick gained the financial backing of the "Big Four", A.E. Cross, Patrick Burns, George Lane, and Archibald J. McLean.
In 1891, established the Calgary Brewing and Malting Company, the first brewery in what was then the Northwest Territories.
The A.E. Junior High School in Calgary, Alberta, is named in his honor.[1][2] Photos and a description of the A.E. Cross House, designated one of Canada's Historic Places, can be seen here.
