Rhoda (Crane) Brook was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Birth

Roda Crane (Rhoda) was born on 15 March 1868, in Flaxman's Valley, South Australia. She was the daughter of Charles Crane and Mary Ackland. ^[1]

Marriage

Rhoda Crane married John Brook on 5 September 1900 at the residence of Charles Samuel Crane, Crawford, South Australia. The groom was aged 35 and his father was William Brook. Rhoda's age was 32.^[2]

Children

John and Rhoda had one child together. A daughter named Una Gladys Brook was born on 7 January 1902 at Dutton, South Australia.^[3]

Death

Rhoda died on 23 June 1904 at the age of 36 years. Her usual residence was Dutton, and she died in Kapunda, South Australia.^[4]

1.The following tributes were inserted into the local newspapers on the death of Rhoda. In loving memory of my dear wife Rhoda Brook, nee Crane, who departed this life on 23rd June 1904. Gone but not forgotten.

2.In loving remembrance of Rhoda Brook, who died on 23rd June 1904 aged 36 years. Long days and nights she bore in pain, To wait for cure was all in vain. But God alone, who thought it best, Did heal her pain and give her rest. - Inserted by her loving sister in law, C. Viney, and A. Rice.^[5]

Burial

Rhoda was buried at the Truro Cemetery, South Australia on the 24th June 1904. A headstone stands.^[6]
