Mary Ann Cowan was born on July 23, 1815, in Williamson County, Tennessee, to Joseph Skiles Cowan and Jane (Graham) Cowan. She grew up in Williamson County, where she eventually met and married Matthew McDonald Meacham on December 14, 1837.
Mary Ann's life was closely tied to Williamson County, as evidenced by her residence in District 3 in 1850, 1870, and 1880. Throughout these years, she remained a steadfast presence in the community, living alongside her husband as he pursued his occupation as a farmer.
Tragically, Mary Ann's life was cut short when she passed away on August 17, 1873, in Williamson County. She was laid to rest at the Campbell-Wilkins-Burns-Meacham Cemetery in Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee, where she rests in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy rooted in the history and community of Williamson County.
