Biography
Matthew Cousin was born in Middleton in Teesdale, County Durham, England.
Matthew was born about 1745 and baptised on 29 June 1745 in Middleton in Teesdale, Durham, England. He was the son of John Couzin.[1]
He married Mary Tinkler on 22nd December 1771 in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Middleton on Teesdale, Durham. [2]
He passed away in 1810 aged 65 and was buried on 28th March 1810 in Middleton in Teesdale, Durham. Abode: Harwood, occupation: Miner. [3]
Matthew's burial record gives his occupation as 'miner', it is quite possible that he worked in the lead mines in the area. Wiregill mine was the centre of the London Lead Company's operation in the Egglshope valley. [4]
