He was the son of the Reverend Frederick Leslie Courtenay, 16th Earl of Devon and Marguerite Silva.[1]He was born on the 18th of July 1916,[1]citing Birth Registration, Honiton, Devon, England.[2]He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.[1]He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.[1]He married Sybil Venetia Taylor, daughter of Captain John Vickris Taylor and Sybil Mary Hopkinson, on the 29th of July 1939.[1]At Newbury, Berkshire, England.[3]He died on the 19th of November 1998 at the age of 82,[1]citing Death Registration, Exeter, Devon, England.[4]
