Research Notes

There is a record on the 1840 Census for a jacob "Courson" living in Fallowfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. This is the same county he was living in at the time of the 1850 census.^[1]

The 1850 Census gives his wife's name as Mary M., b. ca. 1808 in New Jersey. We don't have her Last Name at Birth yet. -- Fiscus-32 14:04, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

His son James's death record gives Nettie Cole as his mother. This must have been Jacob's first wife.^[2]

Jacob Jr's mother is given as Maria Bonam on his death record. Second wife?^[3] Jacob Sr's Find-a-Grave memorial gives his wife's name as Mariah Bowman, and no other mention is made of other wives. Could it be possible that some of these children are attached to the wrong father? -- Fiscus-32 15:43, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

Amanda's mother's name is given as Maria Kerr on her death record. I find it odd that his wife's name was Mariah or Maria, and his mother's maiden name was Kerr. Is this significant?^[4]
