Biography

Sarah was born about 1837. Her parents were Lane COULSELL and Sarah BARNES.

The barque, Fairlie set sail from London, England via Plymouth on 20 Feb 1856 and arrived in Hobson's Bay, Australia on 4 Jun 1856 with assisted immigrant, 20 year old Sarah L COULSELL aboard[1][2]. (Original passenger list sited on ancestry.com.au - Paid site - states she joined her mother in South Melbourne).

John Malpas Moyse BELWARD and Sarah Louisa COULSELL were married on 13 Dec 1858 at St. James's Cathedral, Melbourne, Victoria[3]

Marriage Notice[4]

On the 13th inst., at St. James's Cathedral, Melbourne, by the Rev. John Freeman, John Malpas Moyse Belward, Esq., second son of the Rev. Henry Belward Moyse Belward, of Nottingham, Suffolk, and Wray Park, Reigate, to Sarah Louisa, daughter of the late Lane Bradford Coulsell, Esq., of London.

Katherine Mary BELWARD 1859-1860
Clara Maud BELWARD 1861-1862

Sarah sued for dissolution of the marriage in the Supreme Court in Melbourne, Victoria which was granted on 6 May 1869[5]

William John LORDING and Sarah Louisa COULSELL were married 1871 in Victoria[6], Their children included:

William Harold LORDING 1871-1965
Mary LORDING 1872-1872
Edgar John LORDING 1874-1943?
Louie Ethel LORDING 1876-1954
Ida Minnie LORDING 1877-1958

Sarah passed away in 1927 in Malvern East, Victoria[7] and was buried at the Burwood Cemetery[8].

LORDING.—On the 24th August, at her home, Oakdene, 12 Maitland street, East Malvern, S. L. (Louie), dearly beloved wife of William John Lording, and loving mother of Harold, Edgar, Ethel (Mrs. R. B. Dixon), and Ida (Mrs. J. N. Black), aged 91 years.
