John was born in 1835. He was the son of Dennis Costello 1790–1861 and Mary Mc Keown 1801–1915
John married Bridget Dwyer.
He passed away in 1913 at the age of 78. [1]
The death took place on Saturday of Mr. John Costello, at the residence of Mrs. Hall, Little Breen-street, Quarry Hill, at the advanced age of 78 years. The deceased gentleman was a native of County Kerry, Ireland, and migrated to Victoria when quite a young man. Until a few months ago he resided at Castlemaine, and was an old and esteemed resident of Happy Valley, in that district. He was a respected member of the Hibernian Lodge, of Castlemaine. His wife predeceased him by over three years. Two daughters and one son are left. His remains will be for-warded by the 3.15 o'clock train for interment in the Campbell's Creek Cemetery to-day. [2]
The remains of the late Mr. John Costello were forwarded by the 3.15 p.m. train to Castlemaine yesterday, and the funeral moved from the railway station to the Campbell's Creek Cemetery, where the interment took place in the Roman Catholic section in the presence of deceased's relatives and many old friends. The burial service was solemnised by the parish priest, The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. W. farmer, McCrae-street. [3]
