James was born 13 January 1914 in Elburn, Illinois. He was the son of Michael Corrigan and Anna Miller.
James was a waist gunner on the B-24 Liberator bomber, Lady Luck - #41-23778-F, participating in Operation Tidal Wave the low-level attack on the Romanian oil refineries at Ploesti on 1 August 1943. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for the mission.
He passed away 4 September 1985 in North Aurora, Illinois.
