James Corey was born about November 12, 1805 in Richmond, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States.
James and Hannah Bowker were married. Hannah was born on March 20, 1815 in Fitzwilliam, Cheshire. She was the daughter of Bartlett Bowker and Jemima (Knowlton) Bowker. Their daughter was Mary Frances Cory (1842–1901).
