Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea was an American jazz composer, keyboardist, bandleader, and occasional percussionist.[1]

Born in 1941 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was the son and only child[2] of Armando and Anna (Zaccone) Corea. His father was locally renowned as a nightclub performer and musician.[3]

Chick attended Everett High School in Everett, Massachusetts, graduating in 1959.[4]

Chick Corea won 23 Grammy Awards and was nominated over 60 times.[1] His 1968 recording, Now He Sings, Now He Sobs, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.[5]

Chick Corea was married twice and had two children. [1]

He died from cancer in Tampa, Florida on February 9, 2021.[6]
